GULFPORT - South Mississippi still has a 60 percent chance of rain today, and most of that will fall by 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Tropical Storm Ida moved onshore at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday at Dauphin Island, Ala. and was moving towards Mobile at 9 mph. The storm's winds were 45 mph. The storm is expected to reach mainland Alabama later today and will be south of the Florida Panhandle by noon Wednesday as an extratropical system. The high in South Mississippi today will be in the lower 70s with winds gusting from the north at 15-25 mph. Skies will be mostly cloudy today, but the rain will move out. The low tonight will be in the lower 50s. Sunny skies return Wednesday.
