PASCAGOULA -- The defense has rested its case in the trial of Jennifer Benton, who is accused of shooting her husband to death on May 12, 2005.

The state rested its case before lunch. The defense presented its case this afternoon.

In morning testimony, a pawn shop owner said this morning that murder suspect Jennifer Benton, 43, picked up a .9mm handgun she pawned the same day she's accused of killing her husband.

Two other witnesses also took the stand saying they recall seeing a car matching Benton's vehicle on McThelia Road in Moss Point, where authorities believe Benton actually shot and killed her husband, James Benton.

The continues before Circuit Judge Kathy King Jackson today in Pascagoula.
