(UPDATE 9:40 a.m.) GULFPORT - An eastbound section of Dedeaux Road has reopened after about an hour of efforts to cleanup a sludge spill.

The westbound section should reopen shortly after 10 a.m.

Police Chief Alan Weatherford said the road was closed from Latimer to Lorraine Road after a truck owned by W. C. Fore Trucking Inc. spilled a mile-long stretch of sludge.

A motorcycle crashed in the middle of the sludge. The motorcycle was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear life-threatening.
