BILOXI -- The Mississippi Surge today announced they signed forwards Tim Velemirovich and C.J. Tozzo for the 2009-10 season. “Velemirovich is a proven scorer at this level, and hopefully with some talented young players around him he can continue his success,” said head coach Steffon Walby. “Tozzo was the leading scorer in the EPHL. He’s a feisty competitor who is effective in all three zones.” A native of Thompson, Manitoba, Velemirovich played three seasons at the University of Manitoba, scoring 25 goals and 15 assists in 101 career games from 2003-06 for the Bison. Over the past two seasons with Fayetteville of the SPHL, the 6-0, 194-pound Velemirovich scored 53 goals and 107 assists in 108 regular season games, and contributing six goals and eight assists in 13 playoff games. C.J. Tozzo joins the surge after leading Brooklyn of the Eastern Professional Hockey League in scoring with 96 points (34g, 62a) in 49 games during 2008-09. Prior to turning professional, the 5-9, 175-pound Tozzo appeared in 23 games with Niagara University over two seasons with the Purple Eagles, scoring one goal and four assists.
