Strong thunderstorms moving through Harrison, Jackson counties

The National Weather Service in Jackson is has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Jackson and Harrison counties.

At 10:15 a.m., the NWS said a strong like of thunderstorms from 24 miles north of Escatawpa to 13 miles west of St. Martin, moving east at 25 mph.

The storms were expected to threaten Harrison and Jackson counties, producing frequent lightning and wind gusts near 45 mph.

The storm also could produce rainfall amonts of one to two inches in a short period.

Also, a tornado watch remains in effect until 2 p.m.
