Harrison County firefighters battled a blaze in the county north of Long Beach early Thursday morning.

According to witnesses, the fire started in a barn and then quickly spread to the nearby house on Turner Road. Winds at the time of the fire were pretty strong ahead of the approaching cold front from the west, which affected firefighters' ability to fight it.

Cuevas Volunteer Fire Department was the first department on the scene, assisted by West Harrison Volunteer Department and Long Beach Fire Department.

No electrical service was connected to either structure and Cuevas District Chief David Allard described both structures as a total loss.

There were no injuries related to the fire and firefighters were mopping up their operation a little over two hours later.
