Ocean Springs couple charged with Katrina fraud

GULFPORT -- An Ocean Springs couple has been sentenced to jail time for making false statements to obtain Katrina disaster funds, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Beatrice Moses pleaded guilty to four counts of making false statements to government agencies to obtain post-Katrina disaster funds. Her husband, Laverne Moses, pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to obtain disaster funds.

U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden sentenced Beatrice Moses to a 15-month prison term and sentenced her husband to five years of probation.
