The Mississippi Sea Wolves' goaltender Ryan Munce has been recalled by the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, the team announced today.
The club signed goaltender John Hallas to fill the roster spot.
Munce, 23, has appeared in 23 games for Mississippi this season, compiling an 11-11-0 record with a 3.24 goals against average and .918 save percentage, and went 0-2-0 in two games with Syracuse, despite posting a 2.61 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. A native of Mississagua, Ontario, Munce was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round, 82nd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
In 2007-08, Munce went 19-16-0 with Mississippi. After playing three seasons and 136 games with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League from 2002-2005, where he compiled a 55-56-14 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average, Munce signed with Los Angeles and began his professional career with Bakersfield of the ECHL in 2005-06, where he went 30-18-5 in 55 games, earning a .919 save percentage and a 2.78 goals-against average. Over his first three seasons in the ECHL with Bakersfield, Johnstown, Mississippi and Reading, the 6-2, 180-pound Munce has compiled a 60-43-10 record in 124 appearances with a 2.81 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.
Hallas, a native of Largo, Fla., appeared in two games with Mississippi last season, compiling a 1-0-0 record, after completing his collegiate career at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
