Mississippi State will introduce Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen as its new football coach on Thursday morning.
Mullen, 36, becomes the 32nd football coach in MSU history.
Contract terms were not released, but the deal is believed to be worth about $1.7 million annually. Under state law, Mullen's contract cannot exceed four years.
Mississippi State will hold a rally to introduce Mullen at 10 a.m. at the Templeton Athletic Academic Center, followed by a press conference.
MSU athletic director Greg Byrne also will be on hand.
Mullen's Florida squad averaged 45.2 points per game, and he has coached the Gators' quarterbacks, including Tim Tebow, last year s Heisman Trophy winner and a finalist this season as a junior.
Mullen has coached with Florida head coach Urban Meyer since Meyer's days as an assistant coach at Notre Dame. He has spent the last eight seasons with Meyer at three stops -- Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
Mullen replaces Sylvester Croom, who compiled a 21-38 record in five seasons at State. Croom resigned on Nov. 29, one day after the Bulldogs dismal showing in a 45-0 loss to Ole Miss in Oxford.
