LYMAN — A house damaged by fire Tuesday night re-ignited this morning and is now a total loss.
The wood-frame home with vinyl siding was the residence of Jervis Peterson, his wife and three children, said George Mixon, coordinator of Harrison County Fire Services.
The home would have been liveable pending some remodeling but the family has now lost the structure and all their belongings.
Mixon said the cause of the fire may have been electrical but it wasn’t immediately clear what caused it to re-ignite. A power company crew disconnected the meter last night and the blaze was extinguished, Mixon said. A Coast Electric crew returned this morning to turn off the breaker on a power pole, Mixon said.
The house was insured but Mixon said the family was contacting American Red Cross for immediate emergency assistance.
