Hurricane Ida notices issued

As Hurricane Ida threatens the Coast, emergency managers have released the following information:

n The city of Pass Christian has ordered mandatory evacuation of its harbor by noon Monday.

n The Hancock County School District will have a 60% day on Monday. Elementary schools will release at 11:30 a.m.(Hancock North Central, East Hancock, West Hancock, and South Hancock), Hancock Middle School at 12:30 p.m., and Hancock High School at 12:40 p.m. Plans for schools on Tuesday will be announced by Monday evening.

n The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency is urging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions against the possibility of rising water. If assistance is needed, or problems arise, report them to the EMA at 228-466-8320 or central dispatch, 228-255-9191.

n The Hancock EMA also announced that sand and sandbags are available to all county and city residents at these locations: West Hancock Fire Department, 16006 Washington St., Pearlington; Hancock County South Maintenance Barn, 6824 Lower Bay Road, Lakeshore; Hancock County Complex, 2068 Long Fellow Drive, Bay. St. Louis.
